Value Added Tax is one of the most complex and onerous tax regimes imposed on business today - so complex that many businesses inadvertently overpay or underpay VAT.

The ever widening scope of VAT, the constant stream of detailed changes to the regulations, and the ever growing demands of Customs and Excise call for a trained professional eye to ensure that you do not fall foul of the regulations and do not pay the Exchequer more than you need to!

We currently prepare VAT returns for a number of clients in various different industries. From Hotels to Hairdressers to Security Companies & Employment Agencies. We are familiar with the nuances of VAT and can advise you accordingly. When HM Revenue Customs do come knocking, we are also familiar with the workings of the Compliance review and will fight your corner when the time arrives. Take the strain out of your book-keeping each quarter - hand us your records and sit back and wait for the completed return to come back in good time to avoid the possibility of punitive VAT surcharges of up to 15%!

We provide an efficient cost effective VAT service, which includes:

  • Assistance with VAT registration
  • Advice on VAT planning and administration
  • Use of the most appropriate scheme
  • VAT control and reconciliation
  • Help with completing VAT returns
  • Planning to minimise future problems with Customs and Excise
  • Reminder System
  • Avoid VAT penalties and surcharges

Compulsory Registration

A business must register for VAT when it exceeds the VAT threshold. This is measured on a "rolling" twelve-month period. So at the end of any month if you look back over the previous year and income from taxable business activities exceeds the threshold of 58,000 you should register for VAT. You have a month to obtain and complete a form and you should start charging VAT from then.

VAT Return Figures.

We prepare the figures for the VAT return from your records. We also have a reminder system to remind you of VAT return deadlines. In most businesses, VAT returns have to be complied quarterly and there are penalties for missed deadlines.
